Lichester's has a thicker skin and fur then the finewool pelts which makes them ideal for tummy time and floor play. The un-cut pelts are incredibly soft and lush, perfect in the stroller to keep snug on cold days or in your home as a bedside rug or on your favourite chair.

Swedish Finewool pelts has a unique curl structure and a thin, soft skin that makes it great for use in strollers and bassinets.

Wool has many great properties making it an excellent sustainable product for your home. We only trade with pelts from small family farms where animals are raised in small herds with high regard to animal welfare that use sustainable tanning methods. This means that the wool has has never bleached or dyed. This allow for the lanolin (wool fat) to stay on the fiber, adding to the many soothing properties of wool.

Lanolin is a natural flame resistant and static resistant. It wicks away dirt and moisture leaving the fiber dry and clean.
It is also healing to the human skin (lanolin nipple oil anyone) and studies have shown that babies sleeping on wool settle more quickly, wake and cry less, sleep longer, and gain weight faster.

Wool’s soft hollow fibers “breathe” and help regulate body temperature so wool keeps baby warm when it’s cold and cool when it’s hot. Wool can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture without feeling wet, keeping baby always dry and comfortable..

We never shape cut our pelts and the natural un-dyed wool gives you a unique pelt with slight difference in shape, size and smoothness of skin side. Please note that variations may occur, we do our best to describe/picture the skins for you to receive a product that corresponds to your expectations.

When used for bedding it is recommended that babies under 12 months old are positioned on their backs. and the lambskin is covered with a fitted sheet

New skins may shed slightly and skin side of may dust on textiles, make sure to protect furniture accordingly.

Care Instructions

Sheepskin is a natural material that will last a lifetime with some basic maintenance. We recommend that you shake the skin outside regularly and to vacuum it occasionally. For a deeper clean you may hang it outside on a slightly damp day, or drag the wool side in dry power snow on a cold day, this will keep your skin clean and keep the curls tight. Although the skin can be machine washed it is always best to take care of spills and stains as they occur using a gentle shampoo and a brush.

Machine Washing (Please note that un-cut Leicesters may NOT be machine washed as it will tangle the wool.)

- Wash on a cold, gentle wool cycle using a wool detergent or a sulfate free shampoo.
- Dry flat to hang.
- Whilst drying, work the leather side of the skin with your hands by stretching it gently four ways since all leathers naturally shrink when wet.

Every skin arrives with written care and washing instructions.
